It took 13 minutes to get ferret and acts_as_ferret installed and running. Now my project (bookton) has full text search, with relevance ranking, on every table that needs it.
13 minutes. And that's with distractions.
This is why I love ruby on rails.

13 Minutes, as long as you don't try to find Gödel.
That's back in to unicode, which still has some problems in RoR. :(
I'm not sure where the problem lies in this case. It could be Rails, Ferret, or acts_as_ferret. I think it's probably one of the Ferret bits, because if you search for Escher, you can find Gödel, Escher, Bach.
